Disney Quest 2010: Character Greetings

My expectation was for the boys to be shy and frightened by the Disney characters.  After all, when they met the Colts’ mascot a few months ago they FREAKED.  They were shaking, screaming, clinging, hiding, the whole bit.

We tried to prepare them for the Disney characters that we thought they might encounter before we left.  We talked about how big they were, and how they love kids. I even showed them YouTube videos of other kids meeting the characters to try to help with their fear of costumed creatures.  I’m not sure if we have those measures to credit, or if it was just a maturity issue, or if they were just so in love each character. Regardless, they ADORED the Disney characters.

Thanks to the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration, we were able to meet the characters on multiple occasions.  Our boys were able to dance with Donald, Mickey, and Minnie.  Woody and Buzz became their closest buddies. And they probably gave Mickey high fives 8 times in one night.  It was so adorable to see them love on their favorite (and new favorite) characters.  Their excitement was evident through their smiles, squeals, and jumping.  They acted like they were their bestest buddies, that they needed to hug, kiss, and play with!

Here’s a FEW of our favorite encounters!

What boy doesn’t LOVE Lightning McQueen?

Tonight I asked them who their favorite character is and here’s their responses:

Brooks: Minnie Mouse!

Clark: BUZZ!

Henry: Donald Duck!

Isaac: Mickey Mouse!

Daddy: Goofy

Mama: Minnie

How about you?  Who’s YOUR favorite Disney character?  Who’s your kid’s     favorite(s)?

I'm glad they enjoyed the characters! Baloo is my favorite Disney character. I like Mickey and Minnie too (and I have some funny stories about them after working at Disney), but Baloo is by far my favorite!

Mine is Donald Duck, Hubby's is Goofy & our son's is Lightning McQueen. He's 5 now but we took Charlie to WDW when he was almost 3yrs old. He did better with the characters than we had anticipated.

My kids are both 4.5 - our little girl LOVES the princesses (changes faves each time you ask) and our little boy LOVE anything to do with Cars & Toy Story.

They were in AWE when they met their faves at WDW last September.

Glad you got to experience the magic with your little ones!!!

Looks like such a great time. I can't wait for our crew to go to disneyland sometime.....we used to take the big kids at Christmas time. They want to go so bad and they woul especially flip to see Toy Story Characters. They are counting the days until #3 comes out...the day after Grammy's birthday.
GREAT pics....so fun! Got your email- thank you so much. Sent a "one-handed" reply! :) Kami

We are all about the princesses here right now...with Ariel at the top of the list.

In fact, the "animals" really scare our girls (I haven't figured it out, yet, but it's okay with me).

It sure looks like the boys loved them all and you all had a great time.

The pictures are great...your boys look like they had a GREAT time. My now 21 year old son loved "Dark Wing Duck." DWD had his own tv show on Disney back in the early '90's. I can picture my son wearing a towel as a cape and racing throughout the house singing the Dark Wing Duck theme song! Fun times...thanks for bringing back the memories :-) I wonder if DWD is still around?

Our favorite Disney character is Bolt. By far the favorite in our house for my daughter and my son.

We took our 5 year old son to Disney World back in Oct. He was totally speechless when he rounded the corner and saw Buzz AND Woody standing there waiting for him. They were definitely the highlight of meeting all the characters. We were even chosen as the first family in the Magic Kingdom one morning and got to meet ALL the characters at the same time. That was my favotite meeting, but nothing compares to Buzz and Woody for him!

Hi, we are going to Disney in May with 4.5 year old b/g twins. My daughter loves everything Princess, so we are doing lunch in the castle. Lightning and Mater are my sons favorite! Do you mind to tell me which park you saw them in? Thanks, Veronica

Minnie and "Kickey" are the Youngest Princess' Royal Favorites. The Eldest Princess is all about . . . Princesses, of course (and those crazy Disney Teeny Bopper shows).
